Activities

for something to do outside of the classroom? Benedictine boasts a wide range of extra - and co-curricular activities to challenge and engage virtually every student. At Benedictine, activities are a key and integrated part of the entire Benedictine experience. We believe that a student's active involvement in activities nurtures not only the student and the entire Benedictine community.

This following is a list of the many activities that Benedictine students are encouraged to participate in during 2007-2008

school year.

Academic Challenge

This club looks for students of all classes who have strong academic knowledge in various areas such as math and science, literary works, and history in order to train for competition with other local schools on radio and television.
Art Club When a traditional art class is not enough to satisfy the urge to discover yourself through creative visual arts, the Art Club provide additional time, camaraderie, and resources to help you discover your full artistic potential.

Band

The Marching Band welcomes students of all classes and all levels of music ability, including beginners. Although there are band classes during the 1st and 2nd periods, a student who cannot get band on his schedule may join the band if he can make the after-school practice each Thursday and come to the home football games. Participation in the band earns the student academic credit and a grade in his grade point average. In the winter and spring there is a concert band and also a popular Jazz Band that performs at the home basketball games.

Bennet (Newspaper)

This is the school’s student newspaper. Students of all classes are welcomed to join the staff as writers, photographers, or as business managers. The Bennet produces one issue each month and works out of its production office on the second floor next to room 207.

The Student Council conducts the election procedures for Mr. Benedictine, which is considered the highest student award at Benedictine High School and is to be given by election of the student body and approval of the school administration to the graduating senior who best exemplifies the school’s mission statement. Mr. Benedictine is to be the most well-rounded student. He should best exemplify scholarship, participation in activities, and character, meeting requirements in these areas as listed in the Student Council Constitution.

Copies of the Student Council Constitution are on file in the Main Office and are available for viewing. Areas of the constitution which delineate requirements and procedures for selecting Mr. Benedictine, Student Council Offices and Class Officers will be posted before the May elections.
