Band Camp August 11-15 2008 9:00- 3:00 at

Benedictine High School

Chorus II

Designed to provide a learning atmosphere for music through singing of more difficult vocal literature. It also enables the student to intensify previous skills learned at the introductory level
PREREQUISITE: CHORUS I
Class Credit: 0.5    Class Grade Level: 09

Chorus I

This course comprises music from earliest ages to contemporary times. All phrases of rock, rap, classical music.

Jazz Band

This course is open to students who have at least 2 years of experience on their instrument. Interview with director and audition are required. The repertoire will consist of but not limited to advanced jazz styles, swing, bosa nova, pop and rock.

Marching Band/Concert Band

This course is open to all students grades 9 through 12. Students must have a minimum of one year experience on their instrument. The band performs at all home football games during the first semester and also performs on the spring the concert. Marching band members are expected to participate in the concert band during the second semester.

Art I

This elective studio art course is prepared to acquaint the student with fundamentals of a skill. It is a beginning art course designed to give the student the opportunity to learn about, and try his hand at, exploring basic art techniques and materials. Basic elements and principles of design, color and composition are explored in relationship to their application to drawing and painting.

Art II

This course continues the work of previous study. The student is given the opportunity to concentrate in that particular area of art where he has shown his main interests and abilities.
PREREQUISITE: ART I and Teacher recommendation

Art: Printmaking

Students will explore several different methods of printmaking; that is the transfer of a created image from a plate, block, metal plate and monotype, the creative process the aesthetic development of the print will be stressed.
Class Credit: 0.5    Class Grade Level: 11-12

Art: Mixed Media

In this course, students will experiment with a variety of media, including, but not limited to, graphite, charcoal, pastel, paint, fiber readymades and found objects in combination to create collage, low relief, and sculptural works of art.
